Jimvesting's Christmas Giveaway! – Win a Flip Mino HD, an iPod Nano… and MORE!

Author: Jim | Filed under: Contests

It wouldn’t really be the holiday season…
…without an exciting contest from Jimvesting!

That’s right ladies and gentlemen, this December theNetFool.com in conjunction with Market Leverage is giving away your choice of a brand new iPod Nano or a sleek Flip Mino High Definition! Better yet, you don’t have to compete with affiliate managers or anything like that… if you have a secret about making money online, you have yourself an entry (and a darn good shot!) in Jimvesting’s Christmas Giveaway running from now until the end of December!

This contest consists of two rounds. In round one, I will be the judge… and the best entry (in my opinion) will win themselves their choice of a Flip Mino HD or an Apple iPod Nano. If you are the winner from theNetFool.com, you will get to compete with the winners from other blogs. The top three winners (as selected by the Market Leverage team of hosts/judges) will also get a Kindle, a $100 ML Rewards card and a $50 iTunes card. That’s right, all three… that’s a lot of swag!

Round One: Share Your Secret!

As a play off of Market Leverage’s new “The Secret Is Out” theme… we would like to know what YOUR secret is to making money online! Essentially, you should give some affiliate marketing advice that you have picked up on your own. They want to get some affiliate advice from the affiliates!

The advice that you give can be in pretty much any form you want as long as it is posted in the comment area below and is relevant to making money with Market Leverage. Maybe you want to write a few paragraphs on how you could make referrals to Market Leverage through landing pages… or maybe you want to make a video about jump-starting a campaign… the choice is completely up to you. :)

Your entries should use Market Leverage as the example affiliate network (if applicable), and should be clear and concise. I’m not going to choose an answer that rambles on about every little thing… so keep your money-generating ideas limited to one idea or technique that you use especially well to drive big cash on the internet. You don’t have to be a professional, you just need to voice your opinion.

How Do I Win?

The best answer from this comment area posted before December 31st will get their choice of a new Flip Mino HD or an Apple iPod Nano shipped straight to them FREE as part of the Jimvesting Christmas Giveaway. Hopefully, you guys give some smart answers… because the top three winners in the overall competition will ALSO win an Amazon Kindle, a $100 ML Rewards card and a $50 iTunes card!

I will announce the winner here on December 31st, and Market Leverage will get their official winner list out on January 5th to ring in the New Year! That’s a potential prize pack worth $750 for our grand prize winners… and it’s not some text link ads or eBooks, we are talking about real electronics and spending cash!

Jimvesting’s Christmas Giveaway Recap

Okay, so let’s wrap everything up to make sure everyone is crystal clear on the details. You do NOT have to be my Market Leverage referral or anything like that to enter… but it would be great it you aren’t signed up to Market Leverage already to go ahead and give them a shot as your next affiliate partner. It’s free to sign up, and you might earn a couple hundred bucks for the holiday season!

  • Step One: Submit your “secret” to making money online in the comment area
  • Step Two: Sign Up to Market Leverage if you haven’t already
  • Step Three: Subscribe to the Net Fool Dot Com’s RSS Feed! (Optional)
  • Step Four: Wait for the official Jimvesting announcement on December 31st, and the Market Leverage decision on January 5th!

Sounds simple enough eh? You can only enter once, so make sure that you get your best comment in first! If for any reason you want to re-submit, I will take your second (most recent) comment/video/attachment as the official entry. The odds are in your favor to win some really sweet prizes, so let’s hear some profit tips… the secret is out!

Here is my secret of making money online:

    1. You create a blog about something you’re interested in.

    2. You find affiliates that have to do it with your niche so you can make money off of advertising their products or services.

    *Your ad placement should be the following;
-one banner ad in the top right hand corner (most clicked)
-6 125×125 sized ads in a right sidebar (left side bars are not working if you want to make cash)
-1 500×500 sized ad between your content and comments
Note: Some affiliates will not have these ad sizes but you can create some of your own and have them link to your affiliate URL.

    3. You then write content while thinking about search engine optimization. (This one is way easier than you might think)

*Your SEO should be the following:
-Use the thesis theme because it is one of the most search engine friendly blog designs. (It will be worth the cash)
-Use the Google keyword tool to search for words or phrases that you can target that does not have very much competition.
-Then you should properly write the content around the word or phrase you chose. (Use the word at the beginning of your title or if it is a phrase use the phrase as your title)
-Also make sure to use the word or phrase in the first sentence of your post and then use it throughout. (You can always put your word or phrase in a H2)
-Use the all-in-one SEO plugin for WordPress so that you can put in your keyword or phrase (as the keyword) and then add a description. (The description should definitely have your word or phrase near the beginning of it)
-then you should go out and get some links. Search on Google for Dofollow forums. Post on them and link out to your posts. Of course make sure it is relevant to the conversation. Try to use your word or phrase you are targeting and link to it.
-and then bookmark your post on social bookmarking sites that are Dofollow. Caroline Middlebrook has a nice list of them.

    4. Get easy traffic by taking an hour out of your day and posting comments on other blogs that are related to yours. You can easily post on 30 blogs in an hour. It should get you a nice steady traffic of 100 to 150 unique visitors everyday if you do it everyday.

    5. Use Aweber e-mail marketing and use lightbox on your blog. Set up a newsletter for your blog so people can sign up for it. Then whenever you send out a new newsletter to your subscribers, make sure that you use affiliate links within your content.

So you will make all of your money off affiliates. If you do the search engine optimization like I said and you will easily have a lot of traffic coming to your blog every day. You will already have traffic on your blog if you are commenting. If all that is relevant to your niche and you will definitely have people buying from the companies you are an affiliate for.

You may think that is a lot to do but is actually not very much at all. It helped me build up two great blogs and sell them for good money. The thing is you never have to sell them. I have now created my own personal blog and I’m doing the same things and I’m having success again.

    • Franklin Bishop December 10, 2008 at 1:56 pm #

And of course market leverage can bring in a great deal of cash as your affiliate! I have been in my head the whole time I was writing that but then I forgot to write it. I mean if you can’t make money off of them as an affiliate then why do you see their ads on people’s blogs all the time? It is not like market leverage is paying them to advertise. Bloggers are just affiliates of Market Leverage.

I generate over $2500 a year for my small library by taking discarded books from academic libraries and selling them on half.com. The only investment is my time to list them and the walk to the post office across the street from the library. Since these would get tossed in most instances, I’m helping reduce trash as well as saving the local taxpayers a fair amount of cash.

Great contest and this time I can enter without hesitation :) I’m already a member of ML and Dina and Debby should know me from bloggin-ads :P

Anyways, my opinion on this contest is that it’s quite unfair for some of us early birds leaving comments because others may take our comments and turn it into something else :( Sorry for the rant, but here is my “SECRET” below.
    —–
My secret to making money online is that you shouldn’t even bother reading articles written by other money makers. A person should believe in their own instincts and test out all the Internet boundaries because isn’t that what life is all about? We shouldn’t need to learn things said or mentioned by others because we should all just test it ourselves and either fail or succeed. The resulting payout would be far better than making money online by learning from others.

I haven’t really followed any articles or tips from bloggers while I owned bloggin-ads and I can be honest that I lost a lot of potential earnings. However, I’m not too hurt from it all because I have learned far more by myself than if I had followed tips from others.

I may not be making hundreds to thousands of dollars a month, but the money I’m making makes me feel proud of myself that I put my own thought into everything and everything made is from the blood and sweat of myself.

In a time when cut backs are essential I have made or rather saved lots of money by doing most of our business on line. So far we have reduced our postage expense by over $1,000. That is a big savings on a retirement income.

I’m already subscribed, been subscribed for a while so heres my entry I wanna give an ipod to my mom for christmas, but I’m too cheap to buy one so here it goes.

The first thing I ever did to make money online was GPT sites. The pay was horrible, I’d get about a dollar for every 10 minutes spent doing surveys and offers, I started researching for ways to make money online and decided to do affiliate marketing, I first signed up to this really small affiliate marketing site, the pay was good but not that good so I decided to try market leverage, I only spent a very short amount of time with them because school and personal projects got in my way.

I then decided to do freelancing, I had gotten very good at creating and launching websites during my affiliate marketing period so I started posting bids on projects and I now make about 50 bucks per project, these projects usually take about 2 hours to complete so it’s about 25 bucks per hour which is really good, considering my friends make about 8 bucks at Mcdonalds, for now I spend the money in clothes and random stuff that I like but soon I’ll start saving for college, maybe Penn state business school or law school but I also have my sight on Temple.

My secret to making money online is to take it offline. Turn off the laptop and go meet people. Network at conferences, join meet up groups in your area, and shake hands with people. Build relationships with people in your space. Somewhere down the road an opportunity will open and because you put in the effort to make connections, you’ll get the first phone call.

I have been into blogging since last 3 years, and seen many ups-and-downs regarding building reliable blogs and making money online. Based on my experience, I would suggest that the best money-making tip is not to bother too much “only” about making money online. The content and relevancy is extremely important for a blog to command attention from visitors and search engines. There are millions of blogs now and most important question you should ask is: what makes your blog stand out? If you could answer this convincingly, then you have cleared 50% hurdles in making money online. You should then pay attention to good, clean, error-free template with enough space (the content should not look cluttered). You should place your affiliate ads carefully and at “strategic locations” – there should not be too much of ads that will distract visitors. Whenever possible, go for in-content text links of the affiliate ads. Please avoid pop-ups & pop-unders – strictly not advised. Cross link with relevant other blogs and create your own signature with an affiliate link (whenever possible). Remember, visitors come to your blog to read your opinions, and not to click on your ads. So give them what they want, and they will definitely give you what you want! Wow, what a philosophy!!!

I have blogged about it here: http://www.hungamablog.com/2008/12/win-flip-mono-hd-apple-ipod-nano-much.html. Please count me in! I wish I win one of these exciting prizes!!

The secret? There really isn’t one. You’ve got to work hard and learn the ropes. And be a little lucky. One of my biggest earners was pure luck. That doesn’t mean it would have been my biggest earner if I hadn’t had the knowledge and put the work in to make it a money maker. Maybe that is the secret. Use what you know to monetize the heck out of your biggest strikes. If you’ve got a post or article that is getting a ton of traffic from the search engines or from social sites, take a very close look at it and see if you can monetize it a little bit more. Maybe throw some adsense in the post, or some affiliate links to some products mentioned in the article. And if you’ve done that already and you aren’t making money? Tweak it until you do. That’s the secret. Flexibility and the ability to change on the fly to monetize in the best way possible.

Here’s my tip: (This is not really offer specific, but how to go about choosing an offer to market based off others success/failures)

There is always people jumping the bandwagon to sell products/services of the established affiliate marketers. One of the best ways to get around this constant uphill struggle is to leverage other people and their hard work. There are ways to profit from this “publicity stunt”:

    1. When a new product is launched online, there will always be a period of huge search volumes. These searches come from people using all sorts of keywords to find the products and does their buyer research before handing over their cash. This is a great opportunity to get in front of these people as the new products are released to the market, and this works particularly well as keywords relating to new products have less competition in the search engines.

    2. Secondly, you can make money off other successful marketers indirectly. This is done by looking at how they are making money and modeling their system. All you need to do is examine how they are making money and model your own business around a similar process (do not copy other people’s work however, as this could land you in court).

    3. Post comments and add content to big sites. Spreading your content around the web is one of the most effective ways to get more traffic, but to truly take advantage of the success of others, your aim to get your content found on the big traffic sites where your target audience hangs out.
