Okay, so I absolutely love the blog and was pretty damn engrossed. From my point of view, as a seasoned web-designer and SEO'er, I've finally seen why blogs have literally died a death on search engines. Of course, this leads to the need for an "organic" reader base, who return again and again. Pretty much what I'd call a good old fashioned business model- word of mouth and hard graft without the need to pay out for advertising.

Unfortunately, it's the paid text links that have killed organic search engine results for blogs. Too many out bound links and no time to build in-bound ones.

As for he "fools" buying links... yep I've bought them for other sites of mine. Pretty stupid when you eventually learn enough about how search engines work. Never do that again. Got blacklisted that site by the Googleywoogly spideywidey thingamejig.

As for "turning time into cash", You have got it spot on and that simply isn't what most publishers on the web realise. It's taken 3 years for me to reach a point where I pull in $600-$700 pcm from online advertising (that's just google, shopping.com and Amazon), spread over 4 sites and 1200 individual, keyword, search engine friendly pages.

Of course, I run an online business with the other half, so it's pretty much a case of this is a project for spare time (of which there are limited ammounts), but the point is that rushing in won't get results at all. It'll get you thrown out of every important arena going, from Google to your target audience's own front room!

Did you know that your motto, "turning time into cash," if successful, in inevitably helps the one with cash turn that cash into time (which is the goal, really, for anyone who wants more money...i.e., the ability to have time to do whatever you want).
