If you’re anything like me, you would have been reading Jim’s blog for a while now, learn some pretty unique tips on how to make money and definitely of had some laughs along the way. I was reading his latest “spoof” post when I thought of the post that you are now reading.
I’m sure you’ve heard of people that make thousands of dollars a month on the internet through their “Get Rich Quick” scheme landing pages. They usually want you to buy something at the end, and you simply [x] out of the page, to be stopped by a stupid javascript popup that promises 50% off of the original price and get redirected to a “live” chat agent. It is just a bot.. believe me, I’ve tried to talk to it.
Now, what if I was to tell you that you could make some decent money – not off Ecourses or Ebooks (they are over saturated as it is), but off of referral commissions. Now how would you do that? Read on.
How To Make Money With Referral Commissions
It’s actually pretty simple to do. Simply find out about startup programs or affiliate networks (Marketleverage for example.. there is a newer network that I read about on Tyler Cruz’s website called Amped Media) and sign up for them.
You will then go through the “approval” stage and then most likely be accepted. Then, instead of trying to promote the offers that the networks or product website offers, promote the actual network or website
through your referral link. Paste it on your blog, website, email signature, articles that you write, RSS Feed, etc.. As many places as you have access to. Chances are that people will wonder what the link leads to and will sign up under your referral. For most affiliate networks, that’s 5% of what they make forever. Other websites will offer you a set rate for your referrals.
The ideological theory around this is generating the buzz about it before the bigger sites do. The more time you promote it before the larger sites get their referral links in there, the more people will be signed up and locked into your name – earning you a passive income for doing absolutely nothing. In other words, they will be doing all of the work for you!
Sit back, relax, and watch your wallet get fatter. I hope you’ve enjoyed this guest post… and thanks for reading!

This is a great idea and a great post but we need more information on how to market these and how to get people accross the line and signed up.
Also I don’t see how this relates to any of the spoof posts Jim has done?
I might write another post on how to do that.. Only time will tell!
This isn’t a spoof post.. Jim’s blog isn’t only about Spoofs
Thanks guys for this post. It sounds like a great opportunity to get into a program early. I agree with Ryan that some marketing tips on this idea would be great.

Certainly this is a great strategy but most websites get their buzz from bigger sites because they contact them and ask them to generate a buzz for them in return for special rates.
Do you have any strategies to be first?
Digg, Technorati, Google Blog Search are always great to find out the latest on “New Affiliate Marketing Programs” – try that keyword and see where you end up.
I actually wanted to do this but had trouble getting in one of the networks. So I just quit.

That was a great post. I already read your blog Brad, just like the other 333 of them. You can never get enough tips.
Thanks Franklin.. I hope my blog is unique from the other 333
i love the post, but the cynic in my keeps wondering “what’s the catch?”
clearly i am going to have to try this on at least one of my blogs and see what happens.
No catch, simply cash. Obviously you’d have to file income tax on that to your government.. but its still 5% for life.
I really dont trust the affiliates bcoz i faced lot of problems even i reffered i never got the payment can u suggest the best one
ZK
Almost sounds too good to be true!
I’m not sure if you replied to my previous comment, but if Tyler really is your referral for Market Leverage, you are most definitely a lucky…LUCKY man

He’s not – nobody was. But even if I was, he’d only be making just over $100 a month from me since I only make around $2,200-2,400 a month with ML from my commissions.
If you refer somebody, you don’t get paid for THEIR referrals – it’s not a 2-tier referral program as that gets much too expensive for the affiliate network.
I’ve always tried to do this but it is always tough to be first. Excellent advice to those that didn’t think of it.
Good post and thanks for sharing that. I think the main problem is not to sign up and promote a network, it’s to actually get people to subscribe to it. That’s the tricky part and I think another post on how to get people to sign up would be great!
thanks for sharing , the tough part is to get people to subscribe
Sounds like a good idea. I’ll be on the lookout for new emerging affiliate networks from now onwards.
That live chat agent really is quite annoying. They tell you you’ll get a discount by staying but you don’t actually get any! I don’t know why people see it as ok.
That’s a good post Brad. I may just sign up. But any idea when do they start paying you that 5% referral commission that you say is for life. Short of reading it and checking could you tell us what’s the hold back amount before they start to pay you.
Peter
Hm.. I think thats good idea. Thanks for sharing
Thats a great idea, I will need to implemented. Now I´ll go to do some sign-ups.
