A large percentage of the time "doing" should be part of the research. Take your survey example...how can you tell me "this one makes money" if you've never made money with it?

Especially if the review includes an affiliate link.

Very interesting and thought provoking post. This is my dilemma. I am taking the time to research and write - and that leaves less time for me to spend "doing" those things I write about as I am trying to learn something new, and post new content regularly. I can devote some time, but it would be impossible, for example, to personally do surveys for every survey company I review. My readers benefit from my research and they can earn money. I have my eyes on the long-term. I want search engine traffic - enough to see my blog earning money. I'm willing to wait it out and keep researching, writing and building. Hopefully, I'm making a good investment. Money, short-term or long-term, is always motivating. Even with long-range goals, little successes (like making my first Hits4Pay cashout in 1 month) along the way certainly invigorate!

Jim I agree with your point no. 2 & 3. Well I feel I provide good contents for sure. Even some of my visitors got benefited and also liked my contents but I still lack good traffic and you know how important is it.

John Chow is the best example anyone can give. He blogs about what he eats and all the stuff he gets and look how much his blog is making every month.

Jim, I think you hit this one on the head. Content is great, but it needs to SELL!! You can write the best post ever, but it needs to attract people. You need to match your content to the market in order to generate cash and make money.
