I was a member there for several months. I joined under the auspices that quality...not quantity was what you were judged by. The harsh reality is that Bloggersbase is the perfect political test piece. I found out quickly that if I wanted to win, it really didn't matter how great my posts were. What mattered were two considerations: (1) not pissing off other bloggers, and (2) power schmoozing like there's no tomorrow in order to build your base. When I quit Bloggersbase (many moons ago), people who employed this strategy (myself included) dominated their categories, winning week after week. Like our current political machine, Bloggersbase is a grand excursion into mediocrity and the exploitation of the system. My opinion (and I'm not getting paid to write it): if you're a great blogger, you'll only be frustrated by Bloggersbase. However, if you suck as a writer, but have great networking skills, you'll do well there. Not saying there aren't good writers over there (there are..or there were), but there's a whole lotta pond scum as well...and they win week after week. Why?
