For some people, the thought of making money online is a confusing one. There is one major roadblock standing in their way: a full-time job. While this is going to change your approach, don’t let it stop you altogether. Instead, consider how you can keep your full-time job but begin to earn a part-time income via the internet.

Here are three tips for making money online when only working part-time hours:

1. Be efficient with your time. Since you don’t have a lot of time on your hands, it is important that you focus on the right tasks. Many people who are working part-time online only have a couple hours in the morning or evening. Once you realize that time is short, you will learn what it takes to work more efficiently.

2. Get involved with a money making opportunity that does not require your attention, 24 hours a day. For instance, freelance writing may be the perfect opportunity because you can control your schedule. Along the same lines, building niche sites that generate revenue through advertising programs, such as AdSense, is also a “hands off” way of making money. You can make money while setting and following your own schedule.

3. Set both short and long term goals. The most important question is this: are you interested in eventually making money online as your full-time career? If so, you will approach your part-time endeavor in a different way than somebody who enjoys their day job and doesn’t want to leave.

This post should open your eyes to the fact that you are able to work part-time, and still generate a solid income. Just because you have a 9 – 5 does not mean that your dream of making money online has to die.

Tips for Making Money Online, Part-time

When it comes to making money online one word should be on your mind: traffic. If you don’t get traffic to your sites you are going to find it difficult to make money. This is particularly true for those who focus mainly on affiliate marketing.

Over the past few months I have experimented with several methods of generating traffic. You may remember this post on Facebook advertising. While buying traffic is a great idea, there is no denying that you are taking a risk. For this reason, I also dabble in article marketing from time to time. In fact, I have spent countless hours on this marketing strategy over the past month.

Before you get started with article marketing you need to do a couple things. First off, sign up for accounts with the major article directories. My two favorites are EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com.

From there, your goal is simple: to write high quality content which includes a link back to your website. With most directories, your link will be included in the resource box at the bottom of the text.

Sticking with my Facebook example, I am still trying to push large numbers of people to my site which offers affordable auto insurance quotes. I had good success with Facebook advertising, but again, I was taking a risk by spending money to make money.

With article marketing you are not guaranteed traffic, but at the same time you are not spending any money. Here are three of the biggest benefits of article marketing:

1. You are allowed to include one or more link in your resource box. Not only does this make it simple for readers to click through, but it helps in terms of search engine optimization.

2. SEO benefits. When I first started my article marketing campaign I decided to focus a lot of attention on the keyword phrase “Fort Collins auto insurance quotes.” By posting roughly 15 articles to the two directories listed above, I was able to go from unranked to the first page for this phrase. While the completion isn’t too fierce, it was a big win nonetheless.

3. Other webmasters will pick up your articles. Many of my articles have been published by others – with the resource box in place. Again, this helps to increase traffic while gaining another link from a unique site.

Although I have only been focusing on article marketing for six weeks or so, I can already attribute several hundred dollars in profit to this strategy.

Why should I get started with article marketing? In addition to the benefits above, this is a simple method of increasing traffic and profits. You don’t need any money to get started – just the ability to create high quality content.

Are you looking for a web hosting company that offers a reliable, high quality service? This can be very difficult for a number of reasons. Industry competition alone can put you in a tough spot when attempting to make a final decision. Fortunately, WebHostingRating.com has stepped in to make the process a bit easier.

What is WebHostingRating.com?

According to their website, they are the “largest independent web hosting directory featuring in-depth information on all major web hosting providers accompanied by unedited web hosting reviews and ratings by real customers.”

In other words, WebHostingRating.com provides a variety of information on the many web hosting companies.

The Top 10

Perhaps the biggest benefit of using WebHostingRating.com is its Top 10 list which has a permanent spot on the homepage. By listing out their opinion on the 10 best website hosting companies in the world, it is easy for any visitor to get a very good idea of what is available to them.

On this list you will find the following information: company name, price, space, traffic, and ratings. Additionally, you have the ability to compare several companies without jumping from one page to the next. So, if you need help making a final decision, this is the place to go.

Best Hosting Awards

If you are looking for a web hosting company that can do something in particular, you should consider reviewing the awards section of WebHostingRating.com. Every year they give out awards in the following categories (as well as many others): best budget hosting, best Linux hosting, best Windows hosting, best reseller hosting, best VPS hosting, best dedicated hosting, best colocation hosting, best managed hosting, and best email hosting.

More than just a Review Site

Although the reviews are the “meat” of WebHostingRating.com, don’t overlook the hosting guide that is updated on a regular basis. This is setup in a blog format, and offers information on everything from frequently asked hosting questions to choosing the right company. If you are new to choosing a web host this is a great place to start the learning process.

Homepage Clutter

On the surface, the only downside of WebHostingRating.com is the homepage layout. If you are not familiar with the information on the page it can be a bit overwhelming due to all the clutter. It takes several “mouse scrolls” to make your way all the way to the bottom of the page.

In the defense of WebHostingRating.com, they are providing a lot of great information – it has to go somewhere, right?

In Closing

Shopping for web hosting no longer has to be a difficult task. Instead, use WebHostingRating.com to find information on the best companies as well as industry related advice, tips, and news.

If you are involved with affiliate marketing it is important that you have a good relationship with every affiliate company (Neverblue, Pepperjam, etc.) that you do business with. More specifically, you need to strike up a relationship with your affiliate managers.

Below are several things that your affiliate manager can do for you:

1. Point you towards the best offers. It goes without saying that you will always be on the lookout for high converting, high payout offers. No matter how much experience you have, make sure your affiliate managers know that you are interested in this type of information. Remember, they have access to all the stats that you need to tweak your campaigns.

You don’t have to follow every bit of advice given by an affiliate manager, but you should definitely consider what they have to say.

2. Are you looking for a better payout on a particular offer? While you may not be able to get it, asking your affiliate manager for help is the first step in the process.

3. Beginners need all the help they can get. When I first started out with affiliate marketing I did not know the first thing about choosing an offer, scaling my campaign, etc. Fortunately, I found that most of my affiliate managers were more than willing to help.

Don’t buy into the hype that affiliate managers only want to work with the “big boys.” Everybody has to start somewhere, and you should rely on your affiliate manager for help – no matter how much experience you have.

4. New offers. As an affiliate marketer it is important to get involved with the “next big thing” before everybody else. To ensure that this happens, you must have a great relationship with your affiliate managers. This way they will communicate new offers to you, as soon as they are available.

5. Technical support. Are you having a difficult time adding a banner to your site? Does it appear that your stats are not tracking properly? These are the types of issues that your affiliate manager can help you with. As you gain more experience you may not run into these problems as regularly. That being said, you never know when you are going to need a little bit of help.

Don’t ignore your affiliate manager. Instead, form a bond that can benefit you now and in the future.

What your Affiliate Manager can do for you

Let’s face it: some people are dying to make money online, but for whatever reason they never make any progress. Does this sound familiar? One reason for this is simple: these people do not know the first thing about getting started. And even if they do, they get off track soon enough.

What can you do about this?

If you can find a mentor who is already making money online, you will be putting yourself in much better position to achieve success now and in the future. While it may sound impossible, finding a mentor can be very easy if you know where to look.

1. Turn to your friends first. Do you know somebody who has been making money online for many years? Why not ask them to show you the ropes? This is a great way to learn from somebody close to you who is already achieving the success you are chasing.

2. Ask your network for advice. While you may not know somebody who is making money online, somebody in your network may be able to hook you up with the right person. Talk to as many people as possible about your goals. The more networking you do the better chance there is that you will eventually find a mentor. It may take a few days, it may take a few months – just make sure you stick with your search.

3. Send emails to those you admire. Believe it or not, many people who are making money online are willing to help others. If you send out enough emails, you will eventually find somebody who can show you the way. It can take a while to develop a mentor – student relationship, but you have to start somewhere.

Even if you don’t find free help, you may come across a “mentoring program” that could be invaluable to your career. No matter if you are searching for a blogging course, freelance writing course, or something else, you can find a mentorship program that will point you in the right direction.

Always remember this: no matter how much you know there is somebody who knows more. If you want to make money online, find that person and see if they are willing to help.
